The Eastern Conference underwent a huge shakeup yesterday with a flurry of trades that shifted the rosters of contenders and bubble teams alike, and the Pistons were among those squads who made a move before the Trade Deadline. Detroit sent Jaden Ivey to Chicago as part of a three-team deal with the Bulls and the Timberwolves that brought Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric to the Pistons along with a first-round pick swap from Minnesota.
While it is still unclear whether Huerter will be cleared to suit up for the Pistons tonight, Detroit's newest shooter was the subject of a conversation between Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady last night. While breaking down the Pistons' trade, VC took a moment to praise his former teammate and provided a look at what type of player just arrived in the Motor City.
Huerter is a noted sharp-shooter from the perimeter, which fills quite possibly the biggest need on the Pistons as they're currently constructed, and Carter said he'll fit in just fine from a defensive perspective in Detroit's hard-nosed, physical system where so many players can switch when need be.
If Huerter is cleared to play tonight, the Pistons will have the opportunity to use their newest acquisition against a new-look Wizards squad that added Trae Young and Anthony Davis to their team in a puzzling win-now push from a struggling Eastern Conference franchise.
