On World Basketball Day, the Detroit Pistons have announced a collaboration with one of the biggest hip-hop artists in the world– Detroit’s own Big Sean.
As part of a new partnership called “Creatives Across Continents,” Big Sean and the Pistons are working together to generate some forward-thinking fashion patterns to release as part of a retail line in 2026 according to a release from the Pistons. Here is a little bit more detail about the new project:
“A first-of-its-kind global creative initiative that invites designers, artists and cultural tastemakers across the globe to produce original work inspired by Detroit Basketball.
Selected creatives will receive an exclusive prompt directly from Big Sean and develop designs for a collaborative retail collection debuting in 2026. The program will spotlight global creativity while amplifying Detroit’s creative legacy on an international stage.”
According to the Pistons, Big Sean is planning to work first-hand with the chosen collaborators to help produce the new retail line, one that ideally blends the tenants of Detroit Basketball with the ever-evolving fashion landscape. Big Sean is reportedly going to personally select prompts for the artists to work on, and that will be the genesis of the new Pistons-fueled creations.
Since this international project was announced on World Basketball Day, the Pistons and Big Sean are working together to target a global audience in an effort to prove that Detroit’s influence is on a world-wide level. Earlier this season, Pistons superfan Tom Hur experienced the trip of a lifetime to Detroit from his home in South Korea, an experience that included multiple Pistons games, about a dozen new jerseys between the Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers and Lions and a mountain of memories from the Motor City.
When Hur arrived in Detroit, he was prepared to enjoy his time, to be sure. But he was not prepared for the heart-warming welcome that he received from the Pistons organization. Hur even had the chance to meet Cade Cunningham prior to a home game during his trip to Motown.
These are the types of connections that the Pistons and Big Sean are hoping to foster all across the world. With the Pistons on top of the Eastern Conference, there is no better time than the present to begin following along.
This could be the start of the DVD.
