The Detroit Pistons were one of eight NBA teams to release their new Nike Specter Edition uniforms earlier today

With training camp set to open up later this month, the Detroit Pistons are going to look fairly different on the court this season after making so many offseason alterations to the squad’s supporting cast. On top of that personnel standpoint, the Pistons were also one of eight NBA teams included in the new Nike Specter Edition uniform drop, so that adds another layer of variety to how Detroit will appear from a visual perspective during the 2026-27 campaign.

According to the NBA’s release, the Pistons are one of eight teams that were selected to take part in the Specter Edition uniform series because of their deep, longstanding history with the league. Detroit’s inclusion is also a nod to how the Pistons have continued to embody a physical, hard-working mentality through several different iterations of teams that span multiple generations. Up to this point, the Pistons have staked their reputation on teamwork and combative defensive principles, and the same is still true to this day.

Here is what the league had to say in their uniform drop press release:

“The new Specter Edition uniforms open a new chapter in how team identity for the Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics — the teams tracing their history back to the earliest chapters of the NBA — appears on court. Bringing forward the same obsession with the game that defines the NBA Standard Issue collection, each uniform features details inspired by the franchises’ history, city heritage and fan culture.”

According to the NBA, there will be a merchandise sale on Sept. 15 and Oct. 12 at various locations, but the gear will become more readily available throughout the winter.

Last season, the Pistons kept their classic blue and white uniforms as their two mainstays, but the team also sprinkled in the Statement Edition, which resembled a Pepsi color scheme, and a much sharper City Edition uniform that brought back the teal lightning bolt. In both of those cases, black was used as the dominant background color for the uniforms, and the same could be said for the Specter Edition threads, but the flames creeping up the jersey from the waistband provide a fluid feel with orange and teal in the mix.

In Detroit’s white Association uniforms, the team went 28-8 last season for a very respectable .778 winning percentage, which tied their pace in the blue Icon uniforms after producing a 14-4 record in those. The next most common uniform choice for the Pistons was their City Edition get-up that yielded a paltry 8-7 record. Finally, Detroit wrapped up their four-uni combo with a 10-3 mark in the Statement Edition.

Moving forward, the Pistons are set to open up the pre-season on Oct. 5 against the Phoenix Suns, then the regular season will begin with a 3 pm tilt against the Boston Celtics on Oct. 20, which is also the very first game of the year for the NBA as a whole.
