The Pistons inked deals with four players on Exhibit 10 contracts

With training camp on the horizon across the NBA, the Detroit Pistons are looking to add a few low-risk options to the roster ahead of organized team workouts.

On Thursday, the Pistons signed four players to Exhibit 10 contracts, which essentially translates to training camp deals with flexibility to maintain player rights through the NBA’s G-League. For the Pistons, that means these four players will have an opportunity to develop still with a pathway to the league.

According to Keith Smart, the Pistons signed Charles Bediako, Dawson Garcia, John Ukomadu and Brice Williams to Exhibit 10 deals, so there will be a few new players to evaluate during the pre-season training camp.

Smart later posted that Ukomadu was waived by Detroit, although that appears to be part of a larger plan to keep the 6-7 forward with the Motor City Cruise, which is where he played last season. During that time in Motown, Ukomadu put up a shade under 10 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per contest in around 23 minutes per game. Ukomadu joined the Cruise after playing college basketball at Eastern Kentucky, and he built up some more familiarity with the organization during Summer League with the Pistons.

For Bediako, who checks in as a 7-foot center, the big man played high school ball at IMG Academy before spending two years playing for Alabama. Once in the pros, Bediako played for the NBA’s G-League team in Austin for the 2023-24 season before growing into a much larger role with the Grand Rapids Gold for the 2024-25 campaign. In that season, Bediako averaged just over 10 points per game and added nearly 10 rebounds a night to that total, so he was a consistent contributor for the Gold and has shown flashes that could translate to the NBA level.

When considering Williams, the 6-7 guard spent six years in college with the last two coming at Nebraska, and Williams made quite an impact last season. At Nebraska, Williams averaged over 20 points, 4.1 rebounds and almost 3 assists per game last season in a stingy Big Ten Conference, and he transitioned directly into a Summer League stint with the Pistons, much like Ukomadu.

Keeping with the Pistons’ focus on size, Garcia is a 6-11 forward who played a demonstrable role for Minnesota last season in college. As a Golden Gopher, Garcia logged 19 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2 assists each night, so he was a focal point throughout much of Minnesota’s 2024-25 season. Garcia has the ability to stretch the floor and is comfortable shooting from three-point range, so he offers a valuable dynamic on offense that the Pistons could perhaps develop further.

The Detroit Pistons will kick off the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 22 on the road against the Chicago Bulls.
