The injury bug has bitten the Detroit Pistons once again.
After a period of relatively good health over the past three to four weeks, the Pistons have several injuries to manage at the moment as Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris and Caris LeVert all will be unavailable for an extended period of time.

For Duren, the Pistons’ center who is on the verge of making his first All-Star team, a sprained ankle shortened his night against the Miami Heat on New Year's Day. After rolling his ankle, Duren remained in the game and played for a bit longer before heading to the locker room for the rest of the Pistons’ six-point loss.
According to the Pistons, Duren is not slated to travel with the team for tomorrow’s road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Detroit will evaluate JD next week.
Moving onto another Detroit starter in Harris, the 15-year veteran is expected to be sidelined for a bit longer than Duren due to a left hip sprain that he’s been dealing with for several days. Harris, who has started every game when healthy this season, will not travel to Cleveland either and will be reevaluated by the Pistons in two weeks.
Without Duren on Harris in the picture for the near future, the Pistons will have an opportunity to experiment with the lineup. Isaiah Stewart will clearly move into a starting role, likely at center, but that still leaves an opening for Detroit at the four. This season, Paul Reed has played more than serviceably in the low post for the Pistons this season, and his role will certainly be elevated until Duren and Harris return.
Ron Holland is another player who could receive a considerable uptick in playing time. Holland, who has thrived as a defensive spark plug off the bench that helps create buckets in transition, can play at the four if called upon, and that may be an option for Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff to consider over the next two weeks.
But Holland is going to see his minutes increase whether he starts or not given the versatile role that the second-year player can offer on the wing since LeVert is also slated to miss the Cavs game. Right now, LeVert is dealing with inflammation in his right knee, and his status is day-to-day for Detroit, which could open up another opportunity for Holland to factor into the lineup.
But from a guard perspective, the Pistons are likely to continue giving Marcus Sasser an extended opportunity. Recently, Sasser has logged 19 and 18 points in consecutive games for Detroit, and the speedy ball handler has shown that he’s ready to contribute on an every-night basis.
