The former Detroit Piston posted a new update regarding his return

Over the past week, former Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley has posted a slew of videos to social media where he has candidly discussed his current investigation with the NBA, and it sounds like that dilemma may be wrapping up soon.

“I am going to Detroit this week,” Beasley said recently. “Not to sign. I‘m going back to get ready because each week, each day I’m getting closer and I’m still free. So, I have tremendous hope that I will be in this league and playing really soon.”

Now, this progression of events is beginning to sound like a broken record. Beasley posts an encouraging video about his return to Detroit, then rumors swirl regarding his impending signing with the Pistons. Then after a few days when the temperature cools, another rumor will crop up surrounding a potential Motown return. However, Beasley still needs to be officially cleared from the NBA’s investigation before Pistons President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon can sign the sharp-shooter.

“The Pistons, I personally can’t talk to the Pistons,” Beasley said. “My agents can [talk] in terms of team-wise, but there is no official number or official offer yet because the NBA hasn’t cleared us yet. With that being said, once the NBA clears, I’ll be in Detroit ready to go. This week, I’m going to Detroit to train some more.”

Based on that report, Beasley has made it clear that he wants to return to the Pistons after helping Detroit reach the playoffs last season. Beasley’s three-point specialty helped Detroit set a franchise record in triples made, and his return would help space the floor for a Pistons team that is already dominating the paint.

“When I do go back to the NBA, it’s going to be with the Pistons,” Beasley said. “Like I said, I’m not signing, I didn’t sign anything yet, but I have my highest ties there. I had my best season there last year, and hopefully I can fit back in with the team. That’s the update from me.”

Although the offseason was a tumultuous time for Beasley, the dynamic shooter is in positive spirits, and he’s focused on returning to the Pistons in order to help the team qualify for the postseason in consecutive seasons.

“I could go overseas right now but I’m not,” Beasley said. “I want to play in the NBA, and I know what I know, so I’m just going to stay patient.”

According to Beasley, it is merely a matter of time before he suits up again for the Pistons. In the meantime, Detroit will host the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 pm.
