Denver Nuggets great Nikola Jokic has already won three NBA Most Valuable Players awards during his great career thus far, and after Wednesday night's performance, a fourth MVP might be coming real soon.

Jokic scored 55 points on Wednesday in a 130-116 road victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. It was a season-high for him — his previous season-high was 35 a night earlier in Sacramento — and it tied the highest total in the NBA this season. Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgious-Alexander, who was last year's MVP — had 55 against Indiana on Oct. 23.

“It was just a good night to the players,” Jokic said. “The guys, especially in the fourth quarter, (kept) giving me the ball and it was going in. I just keep shooting it. I didn't open the game really good. I think I missed like two, three layups. After that, it felt good.”

Here's the full story on Jokic's game — and his postgame comments — from Nuggets Roundtable writer Will Despart.

Denver has won six straight games and is 9-2 on the season. Jokic, as expected, has been at the center of the dstreak. He's the first player in NBA history to average a 35-point triple-double while shooting 60 percent or better during a six-game stretch.

He's averaging 35.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 11.0 assists while shooting 73.9% from the field and 55.6% from 3-point range. Jokic scored 25 in the first quarter on Wednesday night

"I think I saw everything," he said, "but I think it's hard. We are really running a lot of plays for me, all kind of different plays."
