Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry scored 26 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday and moved into the top-20 on the NBA's all-time scoring list, passing John Havlicek.

Welcome to the club, Stephen Curry.

The Golden State Warriors sharpshooter scored 26 points on Sunday night in a 111-85 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, giving him 26,397 career points. It moved him into the top-20 scorers all-time in NBA history.

He passed former Boston Celtics great John Havlicek (26,395) and moved into a t ie with Paul Pierce. Next up on the list is former San Antonio Spurs Hall of Famer Tim Duncan, who is 99 points away. (See complete top-20 list below).

The 37-year-old Curry has been dealing with knee soreness, and was listed as questionable before the game. But he gutted it out through 28 minutes, adding seven assists and four steals. The Warriors had a season-high 20 steals.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed a day because of unrest on the streets of Minneapolis after a local nurse was fatally shot by an ICE agent during the federal government’s concentrated immigration enforcement in the area.

The Warriors came to Minnesota from Dallas on Friday morning and spent most of their time at the team hotel, staying away from thousands of protesters and sub-zero temperatures.

“You definitely felt the weight of the city, with so many people gathering together,” Moody said. “They had certain chants and everything going on. Couldn’t imagine too many different times where that group or that large of amount of people are together in the midst of a situation like this, so you definitely felt that.”

Despite the delay, the 26-21 Warriors came out with a lot of energy on Sunday night and blew the game open in the third quarter when they outscored the Timberwolves 38-17. Minnesota (27-19) has lost five straight games, and Golden State is now just 1.5 games behind them for the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference playoff race.

It was a good win, especially with everything swirling around outside.

“We were active and sharp with our rotations and game plan stuff,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr told reporters in Minneapolis. “We didn’t make many mistakes and took advantage of the opportunities that were there.

"A lot of guys diving on the floor for loose balls, and Steph set the tone early, he dove on one and Moses [Moody] got the three in the corner that gave us some momentum. And (Brandon Podziemski) got on the floor, called a timeout. Those are big plays, and they establish a level of fight that you have to have.”

Curry said he spent all day Saturday in his hotel room watching coverage of the peaceful protests on television. He said he also took videos from his window of the protests down below.

“I was glued to the TV,'' he said. “Hopefully, the community kind of comes together and the right decisions are made.”

The Warriors will play the Timberwolves again on Monday. Curry will be a game-time decision depending on how the knee feels while trying to play in back-to-back games. They play at Utah on Wednesday before heading home for a week with games against Detroit and Philadelphia.
