Scottie Barnes unleashed a career-high 15 assists, fueling a historic Raptors rout against the Orlando Magic.

Scottie Barnes delivered one of his most complete performances of the season to lead the Toronto Raptors past the Orlando Magic on Sunday, stepping up in the absence of Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley. Barnes finished with 23 points, 15 assists, five rebounds and three steals, orchestrating the offense and setting the tone defensively in a 139-87 win at Scotiabank Arena.

Toronto relied heavily on Barnes’ playmaking from the opening quarter. After a slow start, the Raptors surged behind his ball movement and transition play, turning defensive stops into scoring opportunities. His 15 assists marked a career high, and he became the central engine behind a balanced offensive display that saw multiple players finish in double figures.

The win improved Toronto to 42-32, pushing them back into the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with nine games remaining. It also marked one of the most dominant performances in franchise history, highlighted by a 31-0 run, the longest unanswered scoring stretch in the NBA’s play-by-play era.

After the game, Barnes spoke about his performance and affirmed his love for Toronto.

“I love it here. So every time I step on this floor I’m gonna play super hard, give it my all.”

Barnes’ Growth, Season Impact and Raptors’ Remaining Schedule

Barnes has been central to Toronto’s rise this season, continuing his development since being selected fourth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. He won NBA Rookie of the Year in 2022 and has since grown into a primary playmaker and two-way contributor for the Raptors.

In the 2025-26 season, Barnes is averaging 18.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game, leading the team in total assists (414) and rebounds (557) while ranking as its second top scorer (1,338). His ability to initiate offense, defend multiple positions and control pace has made him indispensable.

Against Orlando, Toronto’s offense flowed through Barnes across all four quarters, and his decision-making improved significantly.

The Raptors now enter a critical stretch with nine games remaining. Their schedule includes matchups against the Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets

These games will determine seeding and potential playoff matchups in the Eastern Conference.

Barnes remains significant to their postseason aspirations. His production this season has directly impacted Toronto’s ability to remain in the top six and avoid the play-in tournament.

Barnes is the team’s primary facilitator, and will need to show up in the playoffs, especially against top competition.
