The Toronto Raptors face key absences as they prepare to host the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
The Toronto Raptors arrive at Scotiabank Arena to host the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday after a 127-116 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena. The defeat dropped the Raptors’ record to 42-33, leaving them firmly in the hunt for a top‑six seed but also showing clear areas in need of improvement with less than ten games remaining in the regular season.
In Detroit, the Raptors struggled defensively against one of the league’s more physical interior lineups, and while key contributors offered strong individual performances, the team was unable to string together the stops required to mount a comeback.
Brandon Ingram returned from a right heel injury and scored 22 points, while RJ Barrett led the team with 24 points.
Raptors and Kings Face Major Injury Absences
Entering Wednesday’s matchup, Toronto will be impacted by several absences. Immanuel Quickley will miss his sixth game with right foot plantar fasciitis, while Ingram, who leads the team in scoring at 21.4 points per game along with 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists, is listed out due to right heel inflammation and injury management protocols.
Jamison Battle is out with an illness, and Chucky Hepburn remains unavailable while on a G League two‑way assignment, removing two secondary rotation pieces from the roster.
One key injury to keep an eye on is Scottie Barnes, who is listed as questionable with a left shoulder contusion. Barnes, who has played 18 straight games and is averaging 15.6 points in that stretch, is now in danger of missing his first game since Feb. 22.
Barnes has been the most versatile two‑way contributor on the Raptors this season, averaging 18.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.5 blocks in 73 games. His potential absence on Wednesday would affect Toronto’s floor spacing, rebound initiation, rim protection and secondary play creation.
As for the Sacramento Kings, they enter the contest with a 19-57 record, as they continue to deal with extensive injuries to key players. Russell Westbrook (toe) and Keegan Murray (ankle) are both ruled out for Wednesday’s game, removing veteran ball‑handling and wing scoring options from the Kings’ rotation. Isaiah Stevens is listed as game‑time decision (GTD) with an ankle issue, meaning his participation is uncertain.
Sacramento has also been dealing with major injuries this season. Domantas Sabonis (knee), Zach LaVine (hand), Drew Eubanks (thumb) and De’Andre Hunter (eye) are all out for the season, and those long‑term losses have contributed to one of the NBA’s worst records.
DeMar DeRozan and Malik return to the lineup after missing Sunday’s win against the Nets with hamstring and shoulder injuries respectively.
