The Raptors look to win their third game in a row and start the five-game road trip off with a bang.

Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls marks the first match-up in a five-game road trip for the Toronto Raptors. Fresh off back-to-back wins against playoff teams, the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons, Toronto looks to start a three-game winning streak in the United Center against a Bulls team that beat the Memphis Grizzlies at home two days ago.

Striving to find momentum heading into the postseason, the Raptors made a statement after beating Detroit, giving them a win over the top team in both conferences. The relentless Raptors defense showed that they can compete against any team on any given night, despite a 2-18 record against the top-10 teams in the NBA, outside of the pre-James Harden Cleveland Cavaliers.

One of the best defenders on the team, Collin Murray-Boyles, wasn’t even on the floor against the Pistons, further showing the defensive potential for the young group. The standout rookie has been nursing a left thumb sprain, but has seen progress in his recovery after practicing with the team and getting shots up after on Tuesday.

Heading into the contest in Chicago, the NBA’s official injury report remains similar to the previous games, indicating he may not be returning soon.

The No. 9 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft has been downgraded to out in Chicago; he is joined on the injury report by only G-League assigned players. Trayce Jackson-Davis played for the Raptors 905 team Tuesday night, but it ready to go for the senior team in Chicago.

Playing without Murray-Boyles isn’t surprising given the doubtful tag heading into the contest. His defensive contribution has shown to be extremely impactful for one of the best defenses in the NBA. He provides versatility for both perimeter and interior defending that allows him to guard nearly every position on the floor, something he shares with Defensive Player of the Year candidate Scottie Barnes.

Toronto is currently in the midst of a heated battle in the Eastern Conference standings watch. Now sitting in the fifth seed, they sit just three games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. On the other hand, the Philadelphia 76ers sit just 2 games behind the Raptors; however, they are in the ninth seed, with every team in between the two right in the mix.

This five-game road trip means a lot for the Raptors’ playoff hopes. Although the final four games are against Western Conference opponents, their ability to win against other playoff teams like the Suns, Denver Nuggets, and Los Angeles Clippers will greatly impact their momentum and confidence heading into the postseason.
