The franchise looks to be headed in the right direction towards winning their first playoff series since the Bubble in 2020.

The Toronto Raptors showed immense signs of improvement this season after missing the playoffs for three straight years. They were just a game away from taking down the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, and displayed moments of greatness and promise for years to come. After three consecutive seasons of despair, Raptors fans finally have hope to hang onto for the next few years, especially depending on what moves are made this offseason.

With new signs of life, Toronto decided it was the right time to sign general manager Bobby Webster to an extension and promotion. He will now serve as the executive vice president, while maintaining GM duties for years to come, though the specific details of the contract were not disclosed.

He won’t be the only front office member maintaining with the franchise next season, though. Three more extensions were supplied to assistant general manager Dan Tolzman and vice presidents Keith Boyarsky and Tyla Flexman. All three of them came to the Raptors at different times, but have shown their ability to improve the team from a managerial standpoint in their own respective ways.

Continuity was a keyword for the 2025-26 season in Toronto, and it seems that theme is continuing into the offseason. It was well documented that Webster didn’t make any blockbuster moves at the midseason deadline with respect to important voices like Scottie Barnes, who wanted to see the season through with the current roster. Doing so may have proven to be beneficial in the short term, as the Raptors looked completely different this season compared to a year ago.

Whether the roster will largely remain as is or not is to be determined; however, the franchise is clearly trending upward, something the owners would like to maintain. These four extensions show the commitment from the top to the vision that has been set out by those below them. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it will take a village to build an empire.

This is especially true, considering that Webster is still so fresh in the business of making executive decisions regarding roster construction. He hasn’t made many franchise-changing moves outside of drafting Collin Murray-Boyles and extending Jakob Poeltl. One was a home run, and the other was a strikeout, so it’s clear he will need other voices beside him to ensure there are more deals that add to contending for a championship, rather than tanking the team into the lottery.
