With key players sidelined, Rockets battle Sixers for crucial playoff positioning. Embiid's absence creates opportunity, but Maxey remains a threat.

On Thursday, April 9th, the Houston Rockets (50-29) will look to avoid a season sweep in their inter-conference matchups against the Philadelphia 76ers (43-36). This game gives head coach Ime Udoka and his team the surprising opportunity to regain home court advantage to start the playoffs.

When: Thursday, April 9th @ 7:00 PM CT

Where: Toyota Center, Houston

Where to watch: Local Broadcasting, NBA League Pass (with subscription)

Houston Rockets Injury Report:

Out: Steven Adams (Left Ankle Surgery Recovery)

Out: Fred VanVleet (Right Knee ACL Repair)

Questionable: Tari Eason (Illness)

Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report:

Out: Johni Broome (Right Knee Surgery Recovery)

Out: Cameron Payne (Right Hamstring Strain)

Out: Joel Embiid (Illness - Appendicitis Surgery)

Available: Tyrese Maxey (Right Finger Tendon Strain - Splint)

Joel Embiid underwent an unexpected surgery in Houston earlier today after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis. A pretty rare thing to see on the injury report, especially not for an impromptu surgery away from home.

Tyrese Maxey can still make things tough though, as he's available and the 5th leading scorer in the NBA. Amen Thompson will have his hands full in Houston's attempt to win their eighth straight win.

The Rockets are headed back home for their final three games of the season, hoping to regain and retain home court advantage. This game will also be the first of their final back to back with Minnesota on the schedule tomorrow.
