Houston ignites in the second half, dominating defensively and offensively to clinch a decisive victory against the Knicks.
The second half had a much different feel to it to begin. After a lot of scoring to start the game, quarter number three slowed down tremendously. Houston lead the scoring 13-14 with four minutes left.
From there on out though, the Rockets didn’t look back. With the increased physicality, Houston got more trips to the free throw line, forcing the Knicks defense to tone it down a bit.
This let Kevin Durant and Reed Sheppard get free to test if their jumpers were still on target from the first half. They were, as their buckets gave them 25 and 15 points, respectively.
Şengün had a quiet night scoring, but his free throws with 1:46 remaining in the quarter gave the Rockets their new largest lead of the game at 87-68.
Jabari Smith Jr. put the cherry on top of the first 36 minutes with a corner three just before the buzzer. That gave them their first twenty point lead of the night.
Heading into the final period with the scoreboard reading 92-72, Houston was confident they could wrap this one up and let fans go to bed early. They just hoped the Knicks weren’t going to put up a fight.
After some slight comeback efforts, it became apparent it just wasn't going to happen for the Knicks. Their losing streak extends to three in a row, as the Rockets get their third straight victory. Final score 111-94 for a very entertaining win and back to back blowouts for Houston.
