Houston:
Out: Steven Adams (ankle sprain)
Out: Fred VanVleet (ACL repair)
Spurs:
Questionable: Jeremy Sochan (quad soreness)
On Houston’s side, there have been no changes.
Steven Adams remains out until further notice, and with him sidelined, Alperen Şengün continues to absorb the bulk of the center minutes and physical responsibility in the paint. Houston loses some bruising, screen-setting, and rebounding margin without Adams, but they’ve adjusted by leaning into pace control and skill instead of force.
Fred VanVleet is still unavailable as he continues his recovery from ACL repair, keeping Houston in its now-familiar post-FVV rotation. The Rockets have settled into that identity over the last stretch, with Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard handling more on-ball responsibility and Kevin Durant shouldering late-game organization when possessions tighten.
For San Antonio, Jeremy Sochan’s status is worth monitoring. When available, Sochan brings defensive versatility and physicality on the wing, often taking on disruptive assignments and helping San Antonio toggle between lineups. If he’s limited or unavailable, the Spurs lose some flexibility defensively and another body capable of switching across positions.
In a matchup that’s already been shaped by pace swings and execution gaps this season, availability matters. Houston doesn’t need wholesale changes to compete tonight, but they do need continuity- particularly in how they manage minutes in the frontcourt and stay disciplined defensively.
With both teams carrying absences that affect structure more than star power, tonight’s game will hinge less on who’s missing and more on who handles the adjustments cleanly once the ball goes up.
