NBA Legend Kevin Durant turns 38 years old today, September 29th, 2026. Here is a look at his accolades and whats to come

Kevin Durant is turning 38 years old today, but somehow the future Hall of Famer still looks like one of the best players in the NBA.

Kevin Durant has built one of the most impressive résumés in NBA history. The 16-time All-Star is a two-time NBA champion, winning back-to-back titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018. He was named Finals MVP in both championship runs, showing his ability to take over on the biggest stage.

Durant also won the NBA MVP award in 2014 after leading the league in scoring and putting together one of the best individual seasons of his career. He is a four-time scoring champion and has earned six All-NBA First Team selections, along with being named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.

His accomplishments extend beyond the NBA as well. Durant has won three Olympic gold medals with Team USA and a FIBA World Cup gold medal. While his individual résumé is already stacked, Durant is entering another chapter of his career with the Houston Rockets focused on adding another championship to that legacy.

Today, Durant and Houston will celebrate his second birthday as a member of the Rockets.

When Durant joined the Rockets, he agreed to a two-year, $90 million extension, which was $30 million under the max. This proves that his decision was not about maximizing his profits, but about chasing another ring

Durant has already made more than $500 million in NBA salary throughout his career, so taking less money to join a team with championship aspirations makes sense. Houston has a young core led by Amen Thompson and Alperen Şengün, while Fred VanVleet and other veterans provide the experience needed to compete at a high level.

Last season, he averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 52% from the field, 41% from three-point range and 87% from the free-throw line.

Durant played the second most minutes in the entire NBA last season, but Houston is set to reduce his minutes going forward, as he does not have to carry the same burden every night. Instead, Houston can manage his minutes, keep him fresh, and rely on its younger players to shoulder more of the regular-season workload.

Durant came to Houston to win a championship ring, and the best way to do that is to make sure that his body is fully fit and healthy in the postseason (unlike last season).

Durant has already accomplished almost everything an NBA player can accomplish. At this stage of his career, every season feels like another opportunity to appreciate one of basketball's rarest talents. Will he be able to win another ring before retiring?
