Durant etched his name in history, surpassing Jordan. Rockets battled fiercely, clinching a nail-biting victory in an electrifying game.
Even before the game started on Saturday night, Miami was expected to be a tough test for the Rockets. Their last matchup ended in a loss, largely due to Houston’s ugly 43.2-percent shooting performance.
This actually started a seven game win streak for the Heat, including Adebayo’s historic 83 point explosion.
The February 28th game in Miami was also Houston’s next outing after they got their first sweep in a back to back scenario. A feat they haven’t been able to accomplish in the two back to backs they’ve played in since.
Now one day after the Spring Equinox, the Rockets had a chance for revenge against the Heat, plus another opportunity to be victorious on both nights of a back to back.
The cherry on top would be getting their first home victory against Miami since November 27th, 2019, per LandOfBasketball.
As the game was set to tip off, fans were anticipating NBA history in the building. Kevin Durant only needed 26 points to pass Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list.
With 3:36 remaining in the game, Durant hit his second corner three in a row, officially cementing him as the fifth highest scorer in league history.
