Houston's undefeated streak continues, as the Rockets defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 132-100

The Houston Rockets got off to an early lead and never let the Milwaukee Bucks into the game. Houston absolutely dominated this game, winning 132-100. Houston led the game for a whopping 90% of the time, giving Milwaukee no hope of ending the Rockets’ winning streak.

The Rockets had a 22-point lead by halftime, and Amen Thompson led the charge. He had his best offensive game of the early season and had 15 points going into the second half.

Thompson finished the game with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Although he had a solid game, his three-point shooting is still pretty terrible, as he missed both of his three-point attempts.

Despite Houston having both its starting and backup center, Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams, unavailable due to injuries, the Rockets were able to control the paint. Houston outrebounded the Bucks 44 to 40; they had more points in the paint than the Bucks and also had 10 team blocks, in contrast to the Bucks only having 3 blocks.

The injuries to Sengun and Adams gave Clint Capela his first chance of the early season to make an impact on the court. Capela had an excellent performance and showed no signs of rust.

He finished the game with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, along with 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Capela also had a game-high +23 point differential, which proved that he can be relied on moving forward if either Sengun or Adams miss more time.

The highlight for Houston was Fred VanVleet’s performance. VanVleet went off in the third quarter, scoring 15 consecutive points. He finished the game with a game-high 24 points. However, he will be slightly disappointed with his assist-to-turnover ratio, as he finished with 5 assists and 3 turnovers.

Overall, there was a huge gap between the skill and talent of these two teams. Houston converted 55% of their field goals, while Milwaukee converted 40%; Houston converted 45% of their three-pointers, while Milwaukee converted 29%; the list goes on, and Houston basically outplayed Milwaukee in every category.

Although the Bucks are having an atrocious start to the season (1-4), Milwaukee will still be celebrating thanks to the Brewers winning the World Series. Houston will also be joyful, as the Rockets remain undefeated and are undefeated with a 5-0 start to the season.

Houston will have to wait to continue the amazing start to the NBA regular season because the NBA Cup starts this weekend. On Friday, October 30th, Houston will travel to Dallas to face the Mavericks in the first game of the Group A of the NBA Cup
