Rockets vs. Clippers Injury Report:

Keep this list handy- the injury report going into tonight paints two very different pictures, and the contrast matters.

Houston:

Out: Forward - Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle)

Out: Guard - Fren VanVleet (ACL)

Los Angeles:

Out: Center - Ivica Zubac (ankle)

Out: Forward - Derek Jones Jr. (knee)

Out: Guard - (hip)

On Houston’s side, there’s been no real change. Fred VanVleet remains out for the season, and Dorian Finney-Smith is still targeting a January return. At this point, those absences are no longer disruptions- the Rockets have already built their identity without them.

The meaningful update is Tari Eason being back in the rotation. In his return against Sacramento, Eason immediately brought what Houston has been missing: physical defense, energy plays, and chaos in transition. Even without a heavy workload, his presence changed the tone. That matters in a game like this, where physicality and pace are going to be contested from the opening tip.

The Clippers, meanwhile, are dealing with more immediate structural problems. Ivica Zubac being out strips Los Angeles of its interior anchor. Without him, rim protection and defensive rebounding become vulnerabilities- two areas Houston loves to pressure.

Derrick Jones Jr. also remains out, removing another athletic wing defender who could help contain Houston’s size and movement. Bradley Beal being done for the season continues to thin out their offensive options.

Put together, the Clippers are short on size, depth, and lineup flexibility. Houston isn’t at full strength either, but the difference is continuity. The Rockets know who they are without their missing pieces. Los Angeles is still patching holes.

Tonight’s implications are clear: Houston should have the advantage on the glass, in physical matchups, and across longer stretches where depth and discipline decide games. With Eason back and the Clippers undermanned inside, this injury report quietly tilts the floor before tipoff.
