Fresh off a tough loss and two days of rest, Houston looks to capitalize on a struggling Phoenix squad as Alperen Şengün anchors the Rockets' pursuit of a dominant road victory.
The Houston Rockets are 6.5-point favorites against the Phoenix Suns tonight at Mortgage Matchup Center, and I'm backing Houston to handle business on the road. The Rockets (7-2) have had two full days to stew on Wednesday's loss to Minnesota, and the Suns (2-5) are still searching for rhythm.
I'm taking Rockets minus 6.5, so Houston needs to win by seven. As for the final, I've got Rockets 117, Suns 108.
Rockets vs Suns Odds
Odds are current as of 3:55 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 7, and subject to change before tipoff.
DraftKings: Moneyline Rockets -264, Suns +217. Spread Rockets -6.5 (-108), Suns +6.5 (-112)
FanDuel: Moneyline Rockets -245, Suns +200. Spread Rockets -6.5 (-110), Suns +6.5 (-110)
BetMGM: Moneyline Rockets -275, Suns +220. Spread Rockets -6.5 (-110), Suns +6.5 (-110)
Caesars: Moneyline Rockets -267, Suns +215. Spread Rockets -6.5 (-115), Suns +6.5 (-105)
Tipoff: 8 p.m. CT at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix.
TV: Space City Home Network in Houston, Arizona's Family 3TV and Suns Live in Phoenix, and NBA League Pass.
Houston has been steady away from Toyota Center. The Rockets are 3-1 on the road with wins in San Antonio, Atlanta and Milwaukee, including a 132-100 beatdown of the Bucks.
Phoenix is a different story. The Suns lost four straight, capped by a 132-119 home loss to Portland on Wednesday, before beating Orlando 117-104 the next night. Mark Williams is still out after shoulder surgery, Jordan Goodwin is doubtful and Rasheer Fleming is questionable on tonight's injury report.
On Houston's side, Clint Capela and Steven Adams are out again, which puts a heavy load on Alperen Şengün in the middle.
The fourth quarter is what worries me. Both of Houston's losses came after it led going into the final period, and the Rockets got outscored 40-27 in Dallas and 35-23 by Minnesota. They also coughed it up 22 times against the Wolves, and Minnesota turned those into 33 points.
Devin Booker is the other problem. He's averaging 25.4 points per game, per CBS Sports, and he just dropped 30 on Orlando. If he gets rolling early, the Suns can hang around longer than they should.
Kevin Durant also has a little extra fuel tonight. Suns owner Mat Ishbia said he "kind of just threw money at the problem" when discussing the Durant trade in a CNBC interview last month, and KD clapped back on social media. I'd expect him to want this one badly.
Houston is deeper, better and more rested, and two days of film on that Minnesota collapse should clean up the turnovers. Rockets minus 6.5 is my play, and I'm riding Houston to a 117-108 win in the desert.
