Last night the Houston Rockets started their annual pit stop in Florida. Orlando was first on the agenda this time around, giving them a chance to complete the sweep. Their previous meeting this past November gave fans an exciting overtime finish, previously covered on Roundtable.
But this game also gave the Rockets a chance at another kind of sweep, one they haven’t been able to complete all season.
Whether it’s just a coincidence, or possibly a more telling stat, both Houston and Orlando have struggled on back to back nights. Through this season, they’re the only two playoff level teams who haven’t managed to win both games in a back to back scenario. No sweeps, as previously covered on Roundtable.
After Reed Sheppard’s career night against Kings on Wednesday, the Rockets had yet another opportunity to finally handle business on consecutive days.
A review of last night's game shows that it looked like another loss in the beginning, but Reed’s 5/7 shooting from deep fueled a 21-0 run in the second half. He hit a game sealing three, adding up to 12/21 in just over 24 hours.
This extended hot streak has him shooting 42.7-percent from beyond the arc this month, per StatMuse. Considering his playing time seems to be dependent on makes and misses, hopefully this means he’ll continue to get more minutes.
