The Houston Rockets are officially on fire from deep. Houston leads the league in offense, putting an average of 125.7 points per game, per the NBA- and three-pointers are one of the key reasons why.
On Saturday against the Celtics in Boston, Houston shot a whopping 65.5-percent from the perimeter- elite, to say the least. So far in the 2025-26 season, they’re shooting upwards of 45-percent from three, one of the top marks in the league, per StateMuse- one of the best in the NBA.
Just a week ago, Houston’s offense looked flat and disconnected. Now, the spacing’s perfect, the rhythm’s there, and everyone’s getting their hands on the ball. The Rockets have so many shooting options, from Kevin Durant and Josh Okogie to Sheppard and Eason, that defenses simply can’t guard them all. Doubling up on Alperen Sengun or anyone else is just a mistake, and opponents are starting to catch on to that.
In the game against Boston, the Celtics were present and aggressive in the paint but kept setting the Rockets up for wide open threes in doing so. Houston sank nine from the perimeter in just the first half.
Teams keep focusing on Kevin Durant on the inside, opening up guys like Reed Sheppard, Tari Eason, and Josh Okogie to sink three after three. The Rockets have found a recipe that works- ball-sharing as much as possible with solo attacks mixed in that makes them unpredictable and near impossible to contain.
The offense is only going to get scarier if Houston can keep making threes like this. After that 0-2 start, fans were wondering if they had any chemistry at all- it’s wild to think this is the same team from last week. Now, it’s raining threes, and the Rockets are on a roll with three straight blowout wins.
