Boos rained down as KD finally silenced his former team's faithful with a hard-fought victory, ending a years-long winless streak against the familiar foes.
Last night's victory in OKC must’ve felt good for Kevin Durant. Despite us coming up on the 10 year anniversary of his infamous departure to Golden State, fans throughout the area still harbor that same ill will.
Whether you call it the Chesapeake Energy Arena or the Paycom Center, the same boos shower down onto the future Hall-of-Famer any time he touches the ball.
Though not as intense as in his initial handful of returns, going back to Russell Westbrook’s MVP season, the roars still remain. Undeterred, Durant endured 40+ minutes of physical OKC defense and helped lead the Rockets to a win.
That was actually the first win he got in his old stomping grounds in more than two years, a fact I’m sure KD is well aware of. His first win against them in general since that same matchup on April 2, 2023.
After ending his career in Phoenix with three straight losses against the Thunder, the back to back losses with Houston saw his record drop to 8-9 against OKC. Now we’re at a nice even 9-9 as the final matchup of the 2025-2026 season concluded.
Unsurprisingly, his scoring in these games has slowed down as the years add up, but he’s still putting up incredible stats. Through his 18 games, StatMuse shows him averaging 29.1 points per game on 50-40-90 shooting splits. Legendary stuff from a legendary player.
