The Houston Rockets have finalized their negotiations with the 23-year-old Amen Thompson. On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Thompson signed a five-year, $208 million rookie-scale extension with Houston.
Thompson was eligible for a five-year contract worth up to $252 million. However, Houston negotiated a contract at $208 million, as the franchise has minimal salary flexibility and is close to the cap. Accepting the less prestigious contract is beneficial for both Houston and Thompson, as it allows the management to build a strong team around him.
