The San Antonio Spurs will continue their homestand against the Atlanta Hawks. Already in this young season, the game has both playoff and draft implications for both teams, and we have you covered with everything you need to know before tipoff.

The San Antonio Spurs will end their five-game homestand on Thursday night against the Atlanta Hawks, and are hoping to escape their injury-riddled stretch with a winning record at the Frost Bank Center.

The Spurs, for the third game in a row, will be without Victor Wembanyama. So far, they've managed to fare well without their best player, although neither the Sacramento Kings nor the Memphis Grizzlies is the biggest test the NBA could offer.

The Hawks aren't an elite team by any means, but they do boast a winning record and have been solid without their best player, Trae Young, who is also battling both injuries and trade rumors. The Hawks recently had a five-game win streak snapped by the red-hot Detroit Pistons, and are eager to get a W back in the column.

Before tipoff, we have you covered with everything you need to know.

The Spurs are owed a pick swap from the Hawks in 2026. After Atlanta added Porzingis, Luke Kennard, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker this summer, there was hope that they could be one of the better teams in the weak Eastern Conference. With a 9-6 record, they own fifth place and have remained solid so far.

Atlanta is 7-3 without Young this season, so he has been swept up in the usual trade rumors. Unlike in seasons past, the Hawks have demonstrated that they might actually be better without him in the lineup. As one of the better point guards in the NBA, he would hold significant trade value.

The Spurs were once linked to Young, although the additions of De'Aaron Fox, Harper, and Castle have negated the need for an experienced point guard, especially one known for defensive lapses.

San Antonio, also in fifth place, is looking to add another win to avoid a dip in the standings. With playoff and draft implications, this could be one of the most important games of the young season for both teams so far.
