The San Antonio Spurs will travel to Las Vegas on Saturday to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in a single-elimination NBA Cup semifinals game. The Spurs have never made it this far in the Cup, and tore through the "group of death" without Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

The second-year guard returned in time for the Spurs' knockout win over the Lakers, although Wembanyama is yet to suit up. The league has seen a rash of calf injuries this season, although Wembanyama's return is perhaps the most anticipated in NBA circles.

Of course, even with Wemby, the Spurs will have their hands full. The Thunder have easily been the best team in the NBA this season, and even with the Spurs fully healthy, they are distant underdogs.

While Wembanyama does appear on the injury report, he is expected and cleared to play. He admitted on Friday that, recently, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the best player in the NBA, although he expects to steal that title.

With a minutes restriction in place, expect Wembanyama to look to set the tone--for better or worse--early for San Antonio. 

This is the most meaningful game anyone on the roster has played for the Spurs in their entire careers. While it's not a playoff game, expect San Antonio to treat it as one and attempt to soak up the atmosphere as much as possible while getting used to a bigger stage than they have played on in years past.
