Wemby dazzles off the bench, leading Spurs to upset Thunder and advance. He playfully eyes MVP and Sixth Man awards after a masterful comeback.

Victor Wembanyama just won one game.

But he's now playfully wondering if he can win two awards.

His San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night upset the powerhouse OKC Thunder, 111-109, to advance to Tuesday's NBA Cup final.

And they did so in large part because Wemby - despite playing in his first game in nearly a month - scored 22 points in 21 minutes while coming off the bench for the first time in his young career.

"Can you win the MVP and the Sixth Man (of the Year award) in the same year?" he wondered with a smile.

The French sensation, who has been dealing with a calf injury, didn't accomplish this all by himself, of course. In handing the defending-champion Thunder its second loss of the year, Devin Vassell had 23 points, and Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox each had 22 for the Spurs.

"It's our first time playing everybody (with everybody healthy),'' Wembanyama said. "This OKC team, they're not just first in the league. They're way ahead of everybody. And when you watch them ... They're enjoying the little things that make them win, and this is the next step we have to pass."

The outcome moves the Spurs to 18-7 and in the No. 4 slot in the West. OKC remains the top team at 24-2.

But the Spurs - now that they're whole again - seem confident they can give chase."Almost every night they have proven to me that I have nothing to worry about," Wembanyama said of his teammates, who went 9-3 in his absence. "The brand of basketball we are playing, that they have been playing, just makes me proud because it's getting closer to the ideal basketball in my opinion. It's just beautiful to see."
