A blockbuster NBA trade idea between the Milwaukee Bucks and San Antonio Spurs has been created.
NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Bucks and Spurs:
San Antonio Spurs Acquire: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks Acquire: Stephon Castle, Kelly Olynyk, Jeremy Sochan, Harrison Barnes, 2026 first-round pick (via CHI; top-8 protected), 2026 first-round pick (most favorable of SAS or ATL), 2027 first-round pick (via ATL), 2030 first-round pick (most favorable of SAS, DAL, MIN; top-1 protected), 2031 first-round pick (most favorable of SAC or SAS)
This massive NBA trade idea pairs Antetokounmpo with Spurs stars Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.
The Spurs, who haven't made the playoffs since 2019, would be championship contenders with Antetokounmpo, Wembanyama and Fox leading the way.
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo thought about requesting a trade from the Bucks this offseason. However, the future Hall of Famer ultimately stayed with Milwaukee.
The Bucks will only trade Antetokounmpo if he requests a trade. Multiple sources have told Roundtable that the Spurs are saving their future draft picks and current trade assets to pursue Antetokounmpo.
A two-time MVP, Antetokounmpo finished third in MVP voting last season. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks while shooting 60.1% from the field and made the All-NBA First Team.
The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. Indiana also beat Milwaukee in the first round of the 2024 playoffs in six games.
Antetokounmpo guided the Bucks to the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games. Since then, Milwaukee has won only one playoff series.
A top 75 player of all time, Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million this season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season. The Greek Freak doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, so if he requests a trade from the Bucks, Antetokounmpo can't choose his next team.
It will be fascinating to see if Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Bucks this season. The Spurs made a huge trade last season, acquiring Fox from the Sacramento Kings. The front office wants to surround Wembanyama with as much talent as possible.
