The French phenom shattered NBA records with unprecedented two-way dominance, becoming the first player to ever reach a historic postseason statistical milestone.

It seems like almost every time young Victor Wembanyama steps on the floor for the San Antonio Spurs, he threatens, matches or breaks another record.

It happened in the West Finals.

Can it happen again against the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals?

According to StatMuse, Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to record at least 55 blocks and 25 made three-pointers in a single postseason. The achievement highlights exactly why the 22-year-old is viewed as one of the league’s most unique talents. No player has ever combined elite rim protection with perimeter shooting at this level during a playoff run.

Wembanyama’s Game 6 stat line was another masterpiece. He finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, four three-pointers, three blocks, two steals, and two assists while helping San Antonio completely overwhelm Oklahoma City on both ends of the floor. His impact was felt from the opening tip as the Spurs built momentum and never allowed the Thunder to find a rhythm offensively.

What made the performance so impressive was that he was able to affect every facet of the game, and that is what makes Wemby one of the most impressive talents in the history of the league.

There have been many historic shooting performances in a playoff run, as well as defensive performances, but never by the same player. Nobody has ever played like Wembanyama, and it means that he is going to continue to rewrite history books.

And to think, he is only 22 years old.

This is perhaps the least threatening he is going to be for a while, and he was just a finalist for the MVP award.

Now Wembanyama and the Spurs will look forward to the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. It will be a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals, where San Antonio was able to get their first championship in franchise history. ... and if the Spurs win the series?

It'll be more record-setting history for Wemby.
