Champagnie Accepts his Role off the Bench, Says Intensity Stays the Same cover image

San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie said at Monday morning's shootaround in Chicago that his intensity off the bench will stay the same. He said he does not need to be a starter to contribute to this team. Champagnie is going to give his teammates all that he has to offer.

After the morning shootaround at the United Center, forward Julian Champagnie addressed the media and spoke as to what it is going to take to beat the Chicago Bulls Monday night.

"We have to go out there and play defense. Be in the right spots," Champagnie said. "We have to play together, move the ball around."

As well as the Spurs have been playing, Champagnie said there is still room to grow. He said the team has to pay attention to the little details in order to get better and play a more solid game.

"I think first, the level of attention we pay to detail has to be high," Champagnie said. "If we do that, then we can string some more wins together."

Champagnie spoke highly of the Bulls, who come into the game at 6-3. He said the team plays fast and the Spurs are going to have to play quick in transition and slow the game down to their pace.

"They are playing fast, real fast. Moving the ball well," Champagnie said. "We have seen some teams like that already.. They have beaten some good teams and they are playing real solid."

He also addressed his new role coming off of the bench now that De'Aaron Fox is back and Stephon Castle returns to the point guard position.

"I am here to do whatever the team needs me to do," Champagnie said. "The detail stays the same, the way I play stays the same, the level of intensity is the same, I am just not starting the game."

I think it opens things up for everybody. You have to guard him. Having him back is great and it will help us get more wins.

That's my dog right there. It will be fun. I want everyone to do their thing and play well.
