Imagine LeBron James next to Victor Wembanyama.

NBA legend LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has been named a trade target for the San Antonio Spurs.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report thinks the Spurs should attempt to trade for James this season.

"Are we sure Victor Wembanyama isn't a top-2 player in the NBA right now? The 21-year-old certainly made his case after dropping 40 points and 15 rebounds in 30 minutes in the San Antonio Spurs' season opener," Swartz wrote. "Wembanyama is ready to win now, and the Spurs should be doing everything in their power to help him do so. This includes sniffing around a LeBron James trade, a player who's long had a great relationship with Gregg Popovich.

"There's no shortage of advantages when it comes to pairing James and Wembanyama, whether it be on-court production, practice habits, strength training or learning the opponent's every move. A core of Wembanyama, James, De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper and others could make a deep playoff run this year."

James has a no-trade clause in his contract. The leading scorer in NBA history will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason for the first time since 2018.

If James wants to leave the Lakers this season, he can request a trade and pick his next team since he has a no-trade clause.

James, 40, is the oldest active player in the NBA. He turns 41 in December and is currently out with sciatica on his right side. ESPN is reporting that James could make his season debut in mid-November.

The Spurs haven't made the playoffs since 2019. They would be championship favorites with James in the fold next to Wembanyama.

James appeared in 70 games last season. He averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks and finished sixth in MVP voting and made the All-NBA Second Team. The King is not your average "old player."

The Spurs made a huge statement on opening night by blowing out the Dallas Mavericks. Wembanyama put up 40 points and 15 rebounds, showing the sports world that he's fully recovered from the blood clots in his shoulder.
