As the NBA season is entering its second half, mocks for the upcoming 2026 drafts are giving fans a first glimpse at how franchises might shape their futures.
And the San Antonio Spurs are a team that fans know have been making some great selections in the past several years.
In the latest No Ceilings NBA Mock Draft, the Spurs are projected to use their pick on high-upside big man Chris Cenac Jr. out of Houston.
"Perhaps no player has helped their draft stock more over the last month than Chris Cenac Jr," Nathan of No Ceilings writes. "Cenac has all of the physical tools to become a versatile NBA defender, with a clear pathway to offensive production via putbacks, pick-and-pop shooting, and transition runouts. Cenac would fit well alongside Victor Wembanyama and provide plenty of spacing for a trio of backcourt slashers in De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper."
Cenac, a 6-11 forward/center who has turned heads with his combination of size, skill and growing versatility, projects as one of the more intriguing young frontcourt prospects in the upcoming class. In this mock, San Antonio grabs him with the 14th overall selection, potentially providing the Spurs with yet another big who can impact the game in multiple ways on both ends of the court.
At Houston, Cenac has shown flashes of what teams covet in a modern NBA big. He’s been productive on the glass, showing that he can grab double-digits rebounds on any given night, and he’s shooting efficiently around the rim while showing potential as a stretch threat.
He is currently averaging just under 10 points and seven rebounds per game, and he is doing so on 50 percent shooting from the field. Cenac is also showing his outside shooting ability but converting roughly 37 percent of his attempts from deep.
And NBA teams absolutely LOVE a big man who can knock it down from long range.
For Spurs fans, drafting Chris Cenac Jr. in 2026 represents a tantalizing blend of size, skill, and upside. If he reaches his potential, he could be a key piece alongside Wembanyama, helping San Antonio compete at a higher level for years to come.
