This is huge news for the Spurs.

NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN revealed massive De'Aaron Fox news for the Spurs on Friday.

Charania reported that Fox will make his season debut on Saturday against the Pelicans.

Fox played in 17 games with San Antonio last season after the Kings traded him. The Kentucky product had season-ending surgery to repair tendon damage in his left pinkie.

Before going under the knife, Fox averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists for the Spurs. He finished the 2024-25 season averaging 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists with the Kings and Spurs while shooting 46.3% from the field, 31.0% from beyond the arc and 82.7% from the free-throw line.

Fox will make $37.1 million this season. The 27-year-old has career averages of 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists with the Kings and Spurs. He's been to the playoffs just once (2023) in his career.

Fox is one of the top point guards in the NBA. He's universally recognized as the fastest player in the league.

A one-time All-Star, Fox scored a career-high 60 points last season against the Timberwolves. He was still on the Kings. Spurs fans are hopeful that Fox can have a repeat performance like that with them in the future.

The Spurs are 5-2 to start the season. They are looking to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2019.

Superstar Victor Wembanyama is averaging 25.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 4.1 blocks per game this season while shooting 50.8% from the field, 26.1% from 3 and 79.7% from the free-throw line. He's playing at an MVP level.

It's worth noting that Fox and Wembanyama "have developed a close relationship," according to Charania. Because of injuries, Wembanyama and Fox appeared in only five games together last season.

The Spurs are expected to start Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Wembanyama on Saturday against the Pelicans.

San Antonio takes on the Rockets tonight in an NBA Cup game.
