The San Antonio Spurs have officially clinched the second seed in the Western Conference, but they want to keep pushing forward before the postseason starts.

After the San Antonio Spurs' most recent win--127-95 over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday--they have officially clinched a top-two seed in the Western Conference.

There are still eight games left in the season, and San Antonio has its sights set on the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs are only two games behind the title favorites in the standings, and own a 4-1 season series lead, clinching the tiebreaker.

While the Spurs would love to topple the Thunder and enter the playoffs as the best team in the NBA, they understand that they can only control what they can control, and it's more about entering the playoffs with plenty of momentum than it is as the top seed.

Spurs Outline Priorities as Season Ends

The Spurs, throughout their seven-game winning streak and red-hot calendar year of 2026, look the part of the best team in the NBA. For them, keeping their head above water and not letting any momentum waver remains the top priority.

"The main thing for us is attacking every game the same way," said Victor Wembanyama. "We're going to see how it goes down the wire, you know, down to the end of the season."

Wemby has made it clear that he wants to beat Derrick Rose's record for the youngest MVP in league history, so he is totally unwilling to take his foot off the gas.

Luckily for the young superstar, the rest of the roster seems to have totally bought into his mission.

"That's huge, for us getting that second seed, but we're just happy to take it one game at a time," said Devin Vassell, echoing what Wembanyama stated. "That's what we've done this whole year. That's what we're going to keep doing."

In order for the Spurs to steal the top seed, they need to continue their stellar play into the final eight games. However, equally as important is for the Thunder to slide, and given just how good Oklahoma City has been as of late, the Spurs can't exactly count on that.
