San Antonio could bolster Victor Wembanyama’s supporting cast with Alabama’s versatile wing, adding length and multi-positional reliability to a roster built on modern, high-upside athleticism.
The San Antonio Spurs have spent the last few years building one of the NBA’s most intriguing young cores, and a recent mock draft suggests they could continue adding versatile talent around Victor Wembanyama with another high-upside wing.
In a recent mock draft from Heavy.com, San Antonio was projected to select Amari Allen out of the University of Alabama with the No. 20 overall pick acquired from Atlanta. The selection would give the Spurs another long, athletic, multi-positional player capable of fitting the modern NBA style the organization has steadily embraced.
Allen declared for the NBA Draft, but maintained his college eligibility, meaning he could still return to the Crimson Tide. But many scouts think that he is ready for the league.
And if he decides that he is ready, the Spurs could keep an eye on him.
He may not be the flashiest name in the 2026 draft class, but scouts continue to view him as one of the more reliable all-around prospects available late in the first round. At 6-8, he brings positional size, rebounding ability, and strong decision-making to the wing.
That type of player makes a lot of sense for San Antonio.
The Spurs have already established a foundation centered around size, length, and versatility. Adding Allen would only reinforce that identity. He has shown the ability to contribute in several different areas without needing the offense built entirely around him, which is often exactly what contending teams want next to star players.
And with a player like Wemby, the Spurs do not need anyone they draft to be at the center of the team.
Allen averaged 11 points and seven rebounds per game during his freshman season at Alabama while earning SEC All-Freshman honors.
His outside shot still needs development, and some evaluators believe another college season could help boost his stock even further.
If Allen stays in the draft, the Spurs could end up with another versatile building block perfectly suited for the direction their roster is heading.
