San Antonio Spurs TV play-by-play voice Jacob Tobey was fired this week after allegations that he had an affair with one of the Spurs' players' sisters.

The San Antonio Spurs recently let go of a member of their young personnel group, though it was not one of their core roster pieces.

Television play-by-play broadcaster Jacob Tobey was fired this week after he allegedly had an affair with the sister of a current Spurs player, as reported by Front Office Sports.

Tobey's girlfriend seemed to air out the grievance through a post on his own Instagram page, saying the following in his place:

"This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her ... So feel free to continue following me if you really think I'm a good guy because I'm not."

The girlfriend later took ownership of the now-deleted posts and confirmed that she and Tobey had broken up.

The post name-drops Loren Waters, the sister of Spurs forward Lindy Waters III. An additional post on Tobey's page showed what appeared to be a photo carousel of Tobey kissing Waters.

No further statements have been released by the Spurs, Tobey, or the Waters family.

Lindy Waters III appeared in 40 games for the Spurs last season and also had short stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons.

Tobey, 29, just finished his second season as the Spurs' lead broadcaster, one in which San Antonio, led by MVP runner-up Victor Wembanyama, reached the NBA Finals for the first time in many players' careers with the storied franchise.

FOS calls the Spurs announcer vacancy as "one of the most appealing team announcer jobs in recent memory." Wembanyama is a superstar just emerging into his highest potential, and he's flanked by a cast of exciting young players like Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper.

This news comes as the Spurs' television rights were already in question for next season.

San Antonio's coverage on Fan Duel Sports Network ended this past season, leaving the team in search of a new local television partner.

Tobey had been named to FOS's list of the 26 rising sports play-by-play "stars" in November of last year.

Sports media critic Awful Announcing ranked Tobey, Sean Elliott, Matt Bonner, and Fabricio Oberto at No. 15 on the list of the best local broadcast teams in the NBA.

Tobey launched into the industry after his time in Denver at 9NEWS, along with play-by-play experience built up with Fox Sports and the Pac-12 Network.
