The San Antonio Spurs recently visited France to help Victor Wembanyama open and dedicate public courts, as well as get an offseason workout in. Notably, not everyone on the roster was spotted.
The San Antonio Spurs have not made a blockbuster trade in over a year, sending out Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and Sidy Cissoko in exchange for De'Aaron Fox. Since then, they've remained quiet, although they have been linked to several superstars.
Rumors surrounding Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Trae Young are all long in the past. If the Spurs were to make a massive move, it would be to get rid of Fox, opening up room in the starting lineup for Dylan Harper.
As things stand, though, the Spurs seem content to hold strong with their current backcourt. Both Fox and Keldon Johnson will continue to be swept up in trade rumors, although for now, both are safe.
At least, that's how things seem.
Keldon Johnson Not Spotted With Spurs
This offseason, Victor Wembanyama is not living the life of isolation. Last year, he locked himself up in the high mountains of China, working with Shaolin monks to get his mind right. This summer, he seems more focused on the physical and has invited teammates to work with him.
Wembanyama and seven of his teammates visited France earlier this week, holding workouts and community events. Established players like Harper and Stephon Castle, as well as newcomers like Tobias Harris, jetted across the Atlantic.
Notabbly not there? Keldon Johnson.
Of course, that doesn't mean that the longest-tenured player on the team is beefing with the Spurs. Johnson works as a farmer in the offseason and has family in the San Antonio area.
However, after his Sixth Man of the Year campaign, he was expected to be a key player in the postseason. Instead, he fizzled out. Once seen as a prime trade candidate, Johnson's regular season seemed to finally make him safe. Then, the playoffs poured more gas on the fire.
Maybe not traveling with the team doesn't mean much. After all, Devin Vassell, Luke Kornet, Julian Champagnie, and the rookies didn't show up, either. Or, maybe, it means he's on the outs with the team.
Either way, don't expect trade rumors to settle down between now and the Febuary deadline.
