A Victor Wembanyama rookie card sold for $5.11 million during the San Antonio Spurs' run to the NBA Finals.
Fanatics Collect brokered the private deal on a 2023-24 Panini Prizm Black one-of-one parallel that PSA graded a 10. Larry Holder of The Athletic reported the sale on May 26. It's the most expensive non-autographed NBA card ever sold, the fourth-highest NBA card sale, and the 11th-highest in all sports. Collected by Cavelle McDonald at NorCal Sports during a 2024 live break, the buyer remains anonymous. The buyer thinks Wembanyama's potential is "significantly greater" than that of other hobby players.
There are no officially licensed autographed Wembanyama rookie cards. Panini held the exclusive NBA trading card license during his rookie season, and Wembanyama signs exclusively with Fanatics, which took over that license in October.
Before May, the high for any Wembanyama card was $860,100. Goldin sold that one, a 2023-24 Panini Prizm Nebula Choice one-of-one, in February 2025. PSA graded it a 9. The auction closed days after a blood clot in his right shoulder ended his second season.
His 2023 Prizm Black Shimmer one-of-one sold for $516,000 during his rookie season.
A 2023 National Treasures Rookie Logoman one-of-one sold for $528,000 in March 2025. A National Treasures Rookie Logoman numbered to five, graded CGC 9.5, sold for $101,260 at Goldin later that month. Goldin sold a 2023-24 National Treasures Highly Treasured one-of-one for $552,050 on May 6. That auction took 45 bids.
Luka Dončić still holds the Logoman record. His 2018-19 National Treasures rookie patch autograph one-of-one sold for $4.6 million.
Card Ladder had Wembanyama's market up 102% over a one-month stretch as San Antonio came out of the West. The three-month figure was 222.17%, according to numbers published by Sports Illustrated's collectibles desk. Card Ladder follows roughly 40 Wembanyama cards.
Several PSA 10 copies of the 2023-24 Panini Prizm Silver #136 rookie sold on eBay for about $3,300 to $3,500 on May 30. The same card had topped out around $2,900 hours earlier.
New York secured the Finals victory with a 4-1 series win, concluding with a 94-90 win in San Antonio on June 13. Jalen Brunson led with 45 points in Game 5 and was named the unanimous Finals MVP. Wembanyama averaged 26.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks across all five games.

San Antonio finished 62-20, second in the Western Conference. In 64 games, Wembanyama averaged 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, with 51.2% shooting from the field and 34.9% from three, leading the NBA in blocks.
Voters made him the first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, and he also earned All-NBA First Team and finished third in MVP voting. He recently signed a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie-scale extension with a player option in the fifth season. Wembanyama is the cover athlete for the standard edition of NBA 2K27. No Spurs player had held that honor before.
