The San Antonio Spurs are back in action tonight, sort of. It's been 117 days since the Silver and Black have taken the court, and they will kick off the preseason on Thursday night at home against the Atlanta Hawks.

As they gear up for the season, the Spurs have made it clear that they're looking at the upcoming season as a "revenge tour." Still bitter about losing the NBA Finals, the Spurs feel like they have a lot to prove this fall.

Of course, fans shouldn't expect any of the starters to give 100 percent effort in the preseason, nor should they expect them to play long minutes, although several questions still have to be answered: Who is the starting point guard? Will Julian Champagnie keep the starting job? How impactful will Tarris Reed be?

The preseason should hint at some answers. Basketball is back!

The Spurs also have one empty roster spot, and plenty of options to fill it. Of course, whoever they sign will be an end-of-the-bench guy, although behind De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper, and Stephon Castle, the team doesn't have much point guard depth.

Lu Dort will not suit up for the Hawks, so fans should expect a reasonably clean game. Despite the John Collins and Dillon Brooks antics, no one is trying to get rowdy in preseason.

In addition to Atlanta, the Spurs will play the Suns twice, the Jazz, and the Kings before tipping the season off on October 20 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
