The San Antonio Spurs will host the Dallas Mavericks, and both teams have loaded injury reports.
The San Antonio Spurs will host the Dallas Mavericks in the second-to-last game of the regular season. The Spurs, after the Oklahoma City Thunder won their most recent game, will be the second seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks, meanwhile, will miss the postseason.
With no seeding to play for, it makes sense that the Spurs will rest their best players. Both Victor Wembanyama and Stephgon Castle missed the win over the Portland Trail Blazers, and remain on the injury report tonight.
Castle has nothing to play for, as he already met the 65-game requirement for NBA awards and is a dark horse pick for All-NBA and All-Defensive. Wembanyama, meanwhile, needs one more appearance over the next two games to be in the running for awards, including MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.

The Spurs are a perfect 3-0 on the season against Dallas, and none of the games have been particularly close. While only two players on the Mavericks are officially ruled out, expect Dallas to be conservative in their approach tonight, deliberately tanking for the best draft pick possible.
It hasn't happened yet, but with Cooper Flagg leading the way, expect the Mavericks to emerge as a threat to the Spurs in the coming seasons. Between Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, the Southwest Division should be one of the best groups in the NBA, forgetting about the Pelicans and Grizzlies.
After tonight's game, the Spurs will finish out the regular season at home against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night.
