The San Antonio Spurs will take on their in-state rival Houston Rockets on Friday night, playing in Austin TX as a bit of a homecoming for Kevin Durant. The Spurs are searching for their first win of the season.

The San Antonio Spurs are searching for their first win of the season after dropping their opening-night matchup to the Oklahoma City Thunder. On Friday night, the Spurs will "host" the Houston Rockets in Austin as part of their I-35 series.

While Spurs fans are expected to outnumber the Houstonians, it's worth noting that Kevin Durant played college basketball for the Longhorns, so those in attendance might be a little conflicted. The Rockets blew out the Dallas Mavericks to open their season, and will keep the trend of playing in-state rivals.

After missing the entire season last year, Rockets' point guard Fred VanVleet is back in the lineup. Adding another veteran presence to a mostly young team is expected to work wonders for Houston, although VanVleet still needs to shake off some rust.

Before tipoff, we have you covered with everything you need to know, from betting odds, TV info, and injury reports for both squads.

Both Keldon Johnson and De'Aaron Fox played in the season-opening loss. Fox started alongside Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle, and the trio managed to play well, posting a +11 plus/minus when they all shared the court. Fox tried to kick off a Spurs comeback in the first half, although his effort fell flat.

If Fox does not play, Julian Champagnie will be elevated to the starting five, along with Devin Vassell on the wings. Such a lineup should give the Spurs some added firepower from deep and space the floor for Victor Wembanyama to operate in the paint, although the team has remained firm in its wish to give the guard trio an extended leash.

Last season, the Spurs went 3-1 against the Rockets and are hoping for similar results this year.
