The San Antonio Spurs will host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of their second-round series on Monday night. The Spurs went 1-2 against the Wolves in the regular season, and Minnesota boasts a much more seasoned roster, especially in the postseason.
However, the Spurs have Victor Wembanyama, the single most game-breaking player in the NBA, and are much healthier than the Wolves. In Game 1, all signs point to Anthony Edwards sitting out with a hyperextended knee, although he is on track to recover sooner than initially expected, so the pressure is on for the Spurs to capitalize early.
The Spurs have only ever met the Wolves in the postseason twice, both in the first round, back when the series was best of five instead of best of seven. In both 1999 and 2001, the Spurs beat them in four games.
Before tipoff, we have you covered with everything you need to know, from betting odds, TV info, and injury reports for both squads.

While Edwards is officially designated as "questionable," the initial report during the first round was that he would miss closer to two weeks, so fans can more realistically expect him back for Game 3 in Minnesota. Of course, Edwards is one of the more durable players in the NBA, so a speedy recovery would not be out of the question.
Despite being the sixth seed, the Wolves have been one of the more dangerous teams in the NBA for the last few seasons. Edwards has become one of the league's biggest stars, and Julius Randle has slotted in well as a second option. Add in the defense of Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert, and the Spurs will struggle to get the offense going.
Of course, Wembanyama and Stephon Castle pose the exact same problem, which is why this matchup is expected to be a bruising, low-scoring slugfest.
