The San Antonio Spurs will face their biggest challenge of recent weeks, taking on the Portland Trail Blazers in Oregon, for the first time since the Western Conference playoffs first round last season.
The San Antonio Spurs have won seven games in a row, but, as fans have noted, none of those games have come against quality (or fully healthy) opponents. The best team the Spurs have beaten this season was the Minnesota Timberwolves, although the Wolves were without superstar Anthony Edwards.
On Saturday night, the Spurs will have their biggest challenge so far: the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland is 6-2 to start the season under first-year head coach Micah Nori, and seems to have taken a step up from last season, when they fell to the Spurs in five games in the first round of their playoffs.
On top of that, the Spurs played a late game last night in Sacramento, with tipoff delayed nearly 30 minutes thanks to a poorly adjusted rim. The Spurs will have less than 22 hours of rest from last night's final buzzer to tipoff tonight, and against a quality opponent, expect it to be an uphill battle.
Before tipoff, we have you covered with everything you need to know, from betting odds to TV info, and injury reports for both squads.

The Blazers, like the Spurs, played last night, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers.
This season, Deni Avdija has remained exceptional, leading the team in scoring. Damian Lillard is back in the lineup as well, averaging 20.4 points and shooting with the confidence he used to have, although he's sinking only 32.9 percent of his attempts from deep. Expect the shots to start falling for Lillard. With him finally returned from injury and a brief stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, the vibe in the City of Roses is at an all-time high.
The Spurs, meanwhile, continue to be led by Victor Wembanyama, who is normalizing the impossible. Over the seven-game win streak, he's averaging 32.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 4.3 blocked shots. He's coming off a red-hot shooting night against the Kings, and with some degree of fatigue, expect him to settle for some outside shots, especially with Donovan Clingan waiting down low at the rim.
The Spurs are favored tonight, and with two physical teams going up against each other on limited rest, expect an ugly, grueling game. The Spurs are expected to pull it out, though.
