Early in the second quarter, Victor Wembanyama was rejected from Game 4, altering the course of the series.
The San Antonio Spurs' second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves took an unexpected turn midway through the second quarter of Game 4. With the Spurs trailing by two points, Victor Wembanyama wound up, connecting to Naz Reid's chin with his elbow.
The play was immediately reviewed, and officials determined that Wembanyama wound up and followed through above the neck with excessive contact. After being given a Flagrant II foul, he was subsequently ejected from the game.
Wembanyama seemed confused by the ruling, asking Harrison Barnes what that meant. The veteran sharpshooter told him that he had been ejected, and Wembanyama was escorted to the locker room.

When it comes to shots to the head, the NBA is very strict. Over the long review process, it was hard to argue that Wembanyama did not notice Reid behind him, and he did seem to wind up before knocking Reid to the floor.
Keep in mind, this is SpursRoundtable, so if anyone is going to defend Wembanyama, it would be us.
Wembanyama was clearly frustrated with the Spurs' effort and the level of physicality up until that point, although he let his emotions boil over.
Upon exiting, Wembanyama had recorded four points and four rebounds, and the Wolves had already taken advantage of a stint where he had sat in the first quarter.
The Spurs entered the game as 5.5 favorites, but the Wolves rattled off a quick run in the immediate wake of his ejection. It remains to be seen how the game--and the series--will be changed with the Spurs being without their best player for Game 4, although the Spurs did play the Wolves twice without him.
They lost both of those games.
When Wembanyama missed Game 3 of the Spurs' first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers, Luke Kornet stepped up with a 14-point double-double. The Spurs will need their backup center and their secondary stars to step up if they want to roar back for a second win in a row in the Twin Cities.
Let us know down in the comments if you think Wembanyama deserved to be ejected or not.
