Wembanyama Makes NBA History in Come from Behind Victory over the Chicago Bulls cover image

San Antonio Spurs' center Victor Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to score least 35 points, and have 10 rebounds, five assists, five blocked shots and five 3-pointers in a single game. The Spurs came from behind victory over the Chicago Bulls was their third consecutive victory.

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Chicago Bulls 121-117 behind Victor Wembanyama's 38 points. The Frenchman had 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Spurs went on a 10-0 run to come from behind to earn the victory.

It was the third consecutive victory for the upstart Spurs. The loss dropped the Bulls to 5-1 at home. They have also lost four of their last five games.

Wembanyama pulled in 12 rebounds and blocked five shots. The 7-foot-4 center made six 3-pointers and went 11 for 19 from the field in San Antonio's first win at Chicago since March 17, 2021.

Wembanyama also became the first player in NBA history with at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five blocked shots and five 3-pointers in a game.

De’Aaron Fox scored 21 points for San Antonio in his second game of the season. Stephon Castle had 19 points and 11 assists, and Luke Kornet finished with 16 points. For Castle, he now has 38 assists over his last three games.

Chicago played without guard Josh Giddey who is still nursing a right ankle injury. Kevin Huerter took his place in the starting lineup and chimed in with 23 points for the Bulls. Ayo Dosunmu and Tre Jones each scored 20 points for Chicago. Jalen Smith had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The Bulls led 104-91 before Wembanyama took the game into his own hands. He scored 10 points in a row, including a step back jumper and a triple to bring the Spurs back to within three with just over seven minutes to play.

San Antonio closed the game on two Castle free throws with 18 seconds to play as they took a 119-114 lead. The Spurs had a hot fourth quarter as they shot 43.5 percent. This was just as Chicago's shooting touch went cold and they finished the game by shooting just 28 percent in the final stanza. Chicago made just 7-of-25 shots from the field in the quarter.

The Spurs will return home to the friendly confines of the Frost Bank Center as they host the Golden State Warriors Wednesday. They will face the Warriors again on Thursday on the road.
