In Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs jumped out to a 15-0 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder. They would go on to lose that game.

In Game 4, which was must-win for the Silver and Black, the Spurs ended the first frame up by nine points. Their lesson was learned, and they didn't take their foot off the gas, winning convincingly 103-82.

The Spurs were led by an excellent 33-point showing from Victor Wembanyama, but it was really their defensive attack and up-tempo play that kept the Thunder out of it. As the series heads back to Oklahoma City for Game 5 on Tuesday, the Spurs have the recipe for success; it's just a matter of whether they can implement it or not.

Wembanyama hopes he has it all figured out.

Wemby Outlines Spurs' Game 6 Plan

After the Spurs blew their lead in Game 3, legendary former head coach Gregg Popovich made an appearance in the locker room. On top of telling the team that they played poorly, he pointed out that the coaches, at this point, can't work up any magic. The responsibility simply falls on the Spurs outplaying and outhustling the Thunder on every single play.

Wembanyama thinks the Spurs can bring that mindset to the next game.

"In general, being more disciplined and just trusting the game plan even more," he outlined.

At this point, there isn't much either team can do that will surprise the other. Sure, Wemby can pull up from half court and hit a halftime buzzer-beater, but by and large, everything Wemby does and everything Shai Gilgeous-Alexander does has been seen before.

"In the playoffs at some point, especially when a series drags on, everybody knows the other team almost by heart, so it's different," he added. "I would say the coaches hold a lot of this load of the chess match, the coaching staff, all the strategy. They have a lot of film. They work really hard."

While Wembanyama and Popovich might disagree on how much coaching will impact the game, both cerebral figures understand that it'll come down to who remains composed and in control. Both teams have taken turns in that seat so far, and with only three games left and the series evened, it'll be about who finishes better.
