The San Antonio Spurs have signed three players to training camp deals, giving them a shot at making the active roster. Most of these names are unfamiliar to fans, so who is joining the team?
The San Antonio Spurs have 14 players signed to standard deals heading into training camp. On top of that, all three two-way roster spots are filled.
San Antonio could add one more player to a standard contract. The favorite in the clubhouse is Kelly Olynyk, who played for the Spurs last season. The Spurs can navigate the salary cap and second apron if they wait until after the season starts before signing him, hence the delay.
However, the Spurs have three guys signed to training camp deals: Miles Barnstable, Jayden Nunn, and Taelon Peter. It's a long shot, but depending on preseason performance, one of them could earn a roster spot. Otherwise, expect them to play for the G League Austin Spurs.
Who Did Spurs Sign to Training Camp Deals?
Miles Barnstable
Barnstable spent four seasons in college, ending his NCAA career last season at Tulsa. He moved up the ranks, playing at Wisconsin-Whitewater and St. Thomas before making the move to the American Conference. He went undrafted in 2026.
At Tulsa, he averaged 14.6 points on 40.6 percent shooting from deep. He is a score-first guard, standing at 6-2. He played sparingly for the Spurs in the Summer League, but his shooting prowess (41.2 percent) earned him a training camp deal.
Despite his smaller stature, he isn't really a playmaker. Expect him to get hot...in the G League.
Jayden Nunn
Nunn, like Barnstable, moved around in college. He spent two seasons at VCU before transferring to Baylor for his junior and senior seasons. He spent last season in Austin, averaging 13.3 points mostly off the bench.
He's a solid scorer on the wing who can create for himself with or without the ball in his hands. However, the jump from the Big 12 to the G League to the NBA is massive. Fans shouldn't expect him to be on the Spurs' roster, especially with the depth they have on the wings.
Nunn went undrafted in 2025. His defense is solid, although he would have been better served by skipping Baylor and heading straight to the NBA back in 2023, when scouts could have used his youth and potential as justification for taking a flier on him.
Taelon Peter
Peter is the only one of these three players with NBA experience. After shooting 45.3 percent in his senior season at Liberty, the Indiana Pacers picked him 54th overall in 2025. He played in 38 games.
In those garbage-time appearances, his 3-point shot faltered, although he remained solid at getting downhill and pulling up from midrange. At best, he's a reliable backup shooting guard. A depth piece, if you will.
At worst, he's one of the G League's better players. In 14 games with the Noblesville Boom last season, he posted 13.4 points. If the Spurs had a two-way spot, he'd likely be offered it. Don't expect him to steal Olynyk's spot, but another team could offer him a real deal at some point this fall.
