Durant becomes 8th player with 31,000 points in win over the Suns.
The Phoenix Suns went into Houston and put up a fight, for the first quarter. Phoenix had a eight-point lead over the Houston Rockets in the end of the first quarter and even for a minute or two going into the second quarter. After that Kevin Durant took over and the Rockets never looked back.
Kevin Durant scored 17-points in the second quarter of the game as the Houston Rockets went on a 21-4 run. Durant became the eighth player in NBA history to score 31,000-points as well during that run.
Dillon Brooks was barking at K.D all throughout the first quarter and at some point, Durant said enough is enough. Brooks attempted to keep up with Durant going shot for shot, the two players were playing one-on-one for a few minutes in the second quarter.
For every six shots Durant was making, Brooks made one of his.
The Phoenix Suns shot a season low from beyond the arc, going 5-36 (14-percent) from three. Total shots from the field Phoenix were 39-100 (39-percent), also a season low.
Phoenix had no chance when all starters for the Houston Rockets all shot above 50-percent from the field.
Going into the half the Rockets were up by ten points. When the third quarter started Houston picked up right where they left off, Kevin Durant did not let off the gas.
At the end of the third quarter the Houston Rockets had a 30-point lead and Kevin Durant did not see the court for the rest of the game.
Considering the Rockets had 20 turnovers to the Phoenix Suns 13, the Suns could not take advantage of those turnovers.
Dillon Brooks was Phoenix leading scorer with 23-points even though he was 10-24 from the field.
Coach Ott did not seem to have a rhyme or reason to any of the line-ups he was putting on the court. When things would be going well, he would than take a player out and it would go back to sloppy play.
The Suns have to figure this out as there is not set return for either star player, Jalen Green and Devin Booker.
Monday night Phoenix travels to Minnesota to face Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.
