
The Phoenix Suns have only been trending upward in recent games. Have depth on the bench that is breaking NBA records. The bench has put up 150+ points, 75+rebounds and 50+asissts for the first time in NBA history for the first 15 games of the season.
Considering the absence of Grayson Allen and Jalen Green, Phoenix has still pulled off wins on the road. Entering the NBA Cup group play on Friday night, the Suns will be relying yet again on star Devin Booker to have key leadership when the bench players step on the court.
Defensively, the Suns continue to get better every game. Phoenix field goal percentages are going up each game as well, how long they can keep that up is the question.
This matchup against Minnesota is a chance for Phoenix to show the league they are a team to be taken seriously. A win like this without two of your main cast, could be scary thing for the western conference.
Phoenix is currently 9-6 on the season, placing them second in the division.
The Suns are going to do everything in their power to push a fast-paced game against Minnesota. Knowing they have the advantage with the deep bench and younger team, the goal will be to tire out the Timberwolves.
The NBA Cup is a mid-season tournament built into the regular season. Each group has five team and each team plays each other. Winners of the group play than go into the elimination rounds. Group and knock-out rounds all count towards the regular season standing, except the Final.
The group the Suns are in is not an easy group to get through. They will be facing Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz. Phoenix will play two games at home and two on the road.
Friday night starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves and at home is going to be a battle to watch.
Devin Booker once again has a lot on his shoulders, hopefully he can keep this going until his buddies are healthy.
