

The Phoenix Suns went into the "Big Easy" for a back-to-back series and dominated game one. Phoenix controlled the boards to come out on top with a 115-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. This game had it all, fist being thrown and bodies flying all over the court.
Phoenix went on the road the day after Christmas and showed resilience on the court. Overcoming an early deficit led by Devin Booker and controlling the boards done by Mark Williams.
Devin Booker finished with 30 points and five assists, having a very clutch stretch in the fourth quarter.
What made the difference between the two teams was the Suns depth and defensive effort down the stretch.
The Suns were off to an early lead and a fast start up 26-23 to end the first.
Zion Williams was doing his part drawing fouls and an offensive presence. Trey Murphy was also a part of keeping the Pelicans in the game.
In the second quarter Phoenix started to find their rhythm, ball movement improved that created multiple open shots for the Suns.
Going into the half with a 53-48 lead over the Pelicans, the Phoenix Suns were only getting better as the game went on.
The third quarter was the only quarter in the game New Orleans outscored Phoenix. Ending the quarter down by only one point 81-80 at home.
Phoenix continues to use their balanced attack and shooting free-throws at a high percentage proving to themselves they can compete in the Western Conference.
When the time was winding down, Phoenix was able to control the ball with smart possessions to wind down the clock. Defense stepped up and made multiple key stops that prevented the Pelicans from taking back the lead.
The very next day these two teams meet again and it is sure to bring another close, intense game.
